Apple Pro Ps2 V7 Installation

Hi,

I've just finished soldering a Apple Pro chip to my PS2. Now when I boot up I just see the original boot screen, and I am able to play original games no problem.

I didn't back up any PS2 games yet, because I just wanted to see if the PS2 would boot up with the chip installed. Before I started the process of troubleshooting bad burns :)

When I boot up my modded xbox it's apparent right away the chip is working because the boot screen has changed. What about the PS2 boot screen/menu should something have changed?

I apologize if this information has been already posted but I couldn't find clear way to test a chip installation without burning a game.

Thanks!

Try booting a dvd movie.

dude this is a ps2 forum and not a xbox.

the reason why u have a new menu is because there is a new dashboard called evox it allows you to do alsorts of fasanating crap on ur xbox. ps2 doesnt need all this tosh and will play fine without some crappy new menu if u catch my drift. just boot up a copied game and see if it will work. or even boot a dvd up and sit back and watch it:)

Hi junkless and welcome to the forum.

To answer your question no you won’t notice anything different when you boot up your modded PS2 unlike when you boot up your modded Xbox. Like Sean said the PS2 chips are for the most part invisible and just allow you to boot your back-ups.

To expand on what Warlock said, a good way to test if your chip is patching the bios correctly is to boot a DVD movie up according to the Apple Pro's boot instructions for booting a PS2 game. If it plays then there is something wrong (I know this sounds strange). If it doesn’t play and it goes to the browser screen and has the gold PS2 disc on the screen (the PS2 thinks the DVD movie is a PS2 game because the chip has told the PS2 to recognize the media as such) that’s a good indication that you have installed it correctly.

Hope this helps.
