Adding on/off switch to Magic2....
 

There is a discussion going on in a different forum that someone added a switch to the magic 2 chip so it cant be turned off similar to sleep mode. Here is the diagram which shows how to wire it up. Basically using a 3 post switch.

Anyone have any comments on this? I am thinking about doing this soon but wanted your thoughts. I thought i read a while back that this might hurt the ps2.

Insatalling a switch is fine, or spend $20 for a new mod.

After looking at the diagram, am i cutting the Reset and GND wires then tieing in the switch or am i running wires from the switch to the reset and gnd spots, leaving the existing wire (reset & gnd)there? How the diagram looks, i'm just splicing in the switch without cutting the existing wires. Right now i am getting the "insert a pl2 disc" screen one way and flip of the switch justs gives me a black screen (no logo).

I think i would just spend the $20 for a new chip.

All you had to do was leave the wires the way it was originally set up going from the reset on the mobo to the reset on the chip and ground on mobo to ground on chip. Then add another set of wires coming off the ground and reset points on the chip to the switch and then a third wire coming off the leg of the chip where you have to cut the track (you did cut the track didnt you?) going to the center post of the switch.

Thats the way i have it.
