VOB, IFO, and BUP

If you ever downloaded a DVD and only found out that there are VOB, IFO, and BUP files inside don't worry.

Here is a way to view them:

1. Create a folder called VIDEO_TS. Note: VIDEO_TS must be with capitals and contain and underscore or else it won't work.

2. Move all the (VOB, IFO, and BUP) files into the folder.

3. Burn this folder on a DVD disc and watch it.

ALTERNATIVE OPTION: If you do not have a DVD burner then you can watch these files using either PowerDVD or Nero Showtime. TIP: Set the player to FILE MODE and only add the VOB's to the playlist. If you get to a menu and can't press play, just press the >>| button and it will play.

Here is more info on BUP, VOB, and IFO from http://www.audio-video-affair.com/ifo-bup.html

Quote:

IFO files contain the formatting information of the VOB files, which ells the DVD player exactly how the DVD should be played (eg. aspect ratio, subtitles, languages, menus etc...). BUP files are backups for IFO files, which are needed if the IFO files gets corrupted. If you rip the DVD without IFO files, then the VOB files may not play correctly, or may not even play at all.

I always thought you needed an empty "AUDIO_TS" folder as well for dvd`s to work?
