Aladdin is a great chip! you can boot in 3 modes MS bios, protected Xecutor2 bios and unprotected, I usually don’t tell people about the unprotected mode! You install Evox on your hard drive, not the chip.

ihaveanosebleed > i've got alladin advance and want to update my bios i'm supposed to hold power button for 2 seconds yeah? to do this but the green light doesn't flash and i know someone that messed up their chip doing it what am i doing wrong or any1?

Why do you need to update the bios? I don’t own an xbox myself I’ve just installed a few of these chips and leave the Evox software to the owners, I don’t even have a crossover cable. I would say if you don’t need to update, don’t do it!! What BIOS do you want put on it? If I ABSOLUTLY had to update one I would find as much info as possible first. The Aladdin Plus chips have the bios socket so one could probably do a hot swap flash if they got in big trouble. Hopefully I’ll never have to do anything like this. That’s why I don’t tell people about the unprotected mode.

because i have the evox m7 on the alladin chip and on my xectutor chip i have the 4981 and alot of games are giving me dirty disc error don't matter i'll take it to the bloke that chipped it

i really don't rate the evox m7 that much not with the new games anyway
my opinion sorry if i've offended anyone about it :(

Well, the newest bios block from going on xbox live on accident. And you could change the color of the X, or what name the xbox boots to.

seaneyb2003 22-02-2004 01:36

yea i like that bois i prob usially forget to disable the mod lol.

ihaveanosebleed 22-02-2004 04:30

So is the Aladdin advance plus a decent chip or not? I’d like to know that I’m not installing a piece of junk on these Xbox’s. I haven’t heard any complaints yet so I assumed the stock xecutor2 Bios was working fine. If they do need to be reflashed what do you pro’s recommend for this chip? I will flash them on my next install if the upgrade can be justified.

THE INSTALLER I ASKED SAID HE USED THE M7 BIOS IN THE ALLADIN ADVANCED

Hull_chipper 28-02-2004 02:47

The Aladdin is now dated! Most suppliers (including us) are now running down their stock of Aladdins in favour of Applex V and DuoX.

DuoX can be found in the same price range as the Aladdin but is easily the best of the 3.

whens it released?

Hull_chipper 28-02-2004 04:03

Tis in the shops now m8

seaneyb2003 28-02-2004 04:06

wicked i see u sell it how do u solder to it though through wires caus there pads do u drill holes in it or something.

Hull_chipper 28-02-2004 04:18

Lol, they're holes not pads m8 :D Just lay the chip on the board, then flick solder from across the room & see if you can fill all the holes in one hit ;)

You dont need to remove the motherboard like you do with the Aladdin, it only uses 2 wires which are both on the top of the board. It also uses a 1mb flash so you'll always keep pace with future developments.

The best feature I think though is the boot sequence, it's the opposite way around to the Aladdin & Applex V. A quick tap enables the chip instead of the long press required by the others (I know its not hard but ask a 7yr old which he prefers).
