i know ritek the best but u cant buy it in store so that why i ask if memorec or tdk is better

I would choose TDK out of them 2 options..

You may want to try and find some Verbatim DataLife DVD-R's...

They use the Ritek G03 dye and can be found usually rather easy in stores.

I use tdk for my backups:D :D

I will be the odd ball here and say memorex dvd-r's. They seem to run quieter in the PS2. I use TDK cd-r's.

i have used memorex.. they seemed to be very good.. i use riteks now as i ordered a 100 pack and they are the best but out of the media i tested this is what i got.
1. Ritek
2. Verbatim
3. memorex and maxell

So you're saying that Verbatims use Ritek dye,so they should be just as good? I'd rather go to Sams and pick them instead of having to order the Riteks.

Verbatim, Ritek, Datasafe DVD-R are the best...

From the two options, I would go for TDK.

Verbatims dont "always" use Ritek dye. Make sure you check yours if you get some.

Opinions are dime a dozen..Some prefer this and others prefer that..Matter of what works best for people..
I use TDK and occasionally Apple but most of the time TDK since they NEVER gave me problems..Rarely Fuji as well..
1 out of 10 times I use memorex..
Each his own..Never used Riteks for Data Backups except for on DVD movies..

This is onbe of the times where everyone asks the wrong question:

It shouldn't be " what dvd's will work" but "What dvd's will work and cause the minimum damage to my ps2 laser!".

When I first started in this game I used Bulkpaq dvd-r which worked fine on my version 5 ps2 for a while but stopped reading them and most other dvd-r makes shortly afterwards.

Ask anyone who know anything about ps2 backing up and they will always tell you to use ritek dye based dvd-r for a good reason. They are the least stressing/damaging to yr ps2 laser and will extend the ps2 lifespan accordingly so why use anything else.

trOn9...If they haven't got ritek dvd-r in yr store then get on the net an order sum. They probably be a lot cheaper than in the store anyway.

Regards

Verbatims' are no way using a Ritek dye!

They are either pure Mitsubishi (Made in Japan, Taiwan etc.) or Moser Baer (Made in India).

Mitsubishi dye is very good, Moser Baer is normal average.
