Help with ripping a DVD...

Hello all.

Simple for you all, but difficult for me. Thus the reason I'm asking for a bit of help on this one.

My daughter brought home a children's DVD from her teacher today. This DVD contains four separate movie's. The teacher has asked that I try and make a copy of only one of the movie's as she doesn't want the student's to see the other three.

Question: Can this be done? Can I rip only that one movie off of the DVD to a blank DVD+R? If so, I hope someone will point me in the right direction as to how to do this or at least to a tutorial on doing this.

All help appreciated and thnx in advance for your help.

Greeeeeeetz to all.

Oh and so no one will start yelling at me that I'm doing something illegal...this is a legal DVD that the teach purchased herself, so it's not pirated copy or anything like that. She's only asked for my help because the school, especially her class, isn't that well endowed financially, and if I can help em out I try to in any way I can. So...don't worry, I'm not into piracy either peepz.

Use CloneDVD to extract just the movie segment you want and rebuild the dvd. CloneDVD will basically do it all for you.

P.S. Next time we dont need to know all the details.

Sorry for boring you with the detail's and thnx for you curt reply. However, I've already tried CloneDVD and it says the disc is protected. So, no joy there m8.

Anyone else a bit more knowledgeable about this then what TylerDurden had to say? Sure hope so.

TIA and

Greeeeeetz

First, Im not bored by details. Its just that sometimes details can sound fishy and illegal. So the less we know the better.

Second, more knowledgeable than me? I dont think so.

Go to www.slysoft.com and purchase Anydvd. Run it in the background and itll take away all the protection restraints on your dvd and allow CloneDVD to do what I said it could do.

More knowledgeable than me, Ha!

Thnx for the additional help and sorry that you've been rubbed the wrong way a bit there. It's just that after reading some of your replie's to other's you seem to be a bit arrogant sometime's. I don't know if it's because you are so knowledgeable or what. If that's the case, then, and this is only a suggestion, you should use all of your knowledge to help people in depth instead of displaying so much arrogance sometime's. Maybe it's just your personality and that's the way you are.

But anyway, thnx for the pointer to unlock the protection. It is really appreciated.

Me arrogant? No way. :p But you gotta love me baby. ;)

I'm trying to backup Saving Private Ryan, but it seems it is on a 9gb DVD. Is there any way I can split the burn into 2 discs? CloneDVD shows all 21 chapters of the movie as 1 segment. I want to backup the first 10 chapters on 1 DVD, and the next 11 on a 2nd. Any clue Ty?

Thanks~
DJF

Yeah you can with DVD X Copy. I personally dont like splitting up my dvd's but if think thats the only way for you then go for it.

I just like the way CloneDVD downsizes the movie to fit on one dvd.

I have DVD XCopy Xpress, but I don't see any option where I can do that. Do I need Platinum to split a DVD into 2 disks? For Saving Private Ryan, I see the quality being reduced to 48% of original quality on CloneDVD, so I would love to make it a 2 disc set.

TylerDurden 17-02-2004 21:36

I really dont use Dvd X Copy so I cant help you with that.

As for CloneDVD. Unless you already knew, you can deselect certain segments of the entire dvd. Such as the previews or maybe some of the bonus features that you may not want. Doing so will up the quality percentage on your movie.

Xpress compresses. It doesn't split. Regular dvd x copy will split for ya.
