Scph5006

Since there are heavy taxes in India I decided to buy the PS2 on my trip to Thailand..so I bought it finally for a much lesser price SCPH50006 (no idea which mod-chip is installed). Can anyone tell me any safe method to know which modchip is installed? Also how can I make it DVD region free?
The box says Made in China and NTSC-J but I can play copy games of NTSC U/C and PAL (due to the mod-chip ofcourse)

Well the only way to be 100% sure is to open up your ps2. We can give you some idea if you tell us what boot procedures you use.

What do you mean boot procedures? I just turn the console on...insert the DVD game and play it..thats it. You mean there's another procedure?

If you got a modchip you more than likely need to know the other boot procedures that your chip is built with.

Read the Ultimate Info Sticky, to be up to date with what kinds of chips are out now.
