How do I burn a DVD to play like a VCD?
I have files of TV shows (Video Clip mostly) that work great as VCD's but a few of them are too large to fit on a VCD standard 80min CD-R disc. Is there a way to split the file or can I somehow make these files play on a DVD?
I have Nero 6 ultra, Ulead Movie Factort 2, and Roxio Easy CD and DVD creator installed on my system for software and none of them seem to want to make a playable DVD-R disc for my home DVD player. My home player can read DVD-R disc when using DVD X-copy exress to backup copyright movies but I wish I could get a simple video clip and Mpeg file to work as good with one of the other programs using a DVD-R disc. What options on what software work best to make a playable DVD? |
Just use Tmpeg encoder to reencode your mpeg's to dvd format. Then you can just use Ulead Movie Factory 2 to finish your dvd.

O.k I d-loaded Tmpeg encoder. Now what do I encode the file to? Can you provide me with some instructions?

Just use the wizard in the program. It cant get easier than that.

I get AVI is unsupported message when I try to convert the file I'm talking about.
I also have some Divx files I would like to burn to a DVD, aren't those alraedy in DVD format? Anyway Ulaed DVD movie factory 2 gives me a message that the avi is not accessable and tmpg decoder says avi is unsupported. The Divx video clip file plays fine with windows media player so I know its got to be a good file but how in the heck am I going to burn it so I can watch it on TV... |
Since you have Nero 6 ultra, you can also use it's DVD making wizard (you can find it in nero vision express),it automatically convert Divx to mpeg2.

I tried Nero Vision Express 2 also but it didn't accept the files either. Burning it using Nero as a VCD seems to be my only option, that is if the file was small enough to fit on a blank cd-r. Is there a way to split the file onto 2 cd-r's so its usable as a VCD? I give up getting it to work on a DVD but if I could split the file it would work on a VCD. |
