Cracked DVD: Xenosaga
Just wondering, has anyone here ever cracked their xenosaga disk? I have tons of dvds and easily over 400 cds, and I have never cracked a single one.
However, I bought xenosaga recently, and when I took it out I noticed that it woudent work, then I checked the back and it was cracked! I was wondering if these disks are extra-sensative since they are double density or if I was just unlucky enough to buy a broken copy of the game. Also, before playing on the PS2 I put this disk in my pc's dvd drive just to take a look at the contents, since sometimes people put wallpapers or something on their console cd games, this coudlent have helped cause the crack could it? |
Ive seen cracked discs. But only in rentals. Ive never cracked any of my discs.

So this is likely not my fault because the disk is sensative? And it coudlent have been caused by attempting to read the disk in my pc's dvd drive?

Cracked CD’s can explode in high speed drives. I believe they call it “disk crush”? DVD’s from my rental place have the same problem because the cases they use snap in too hard.
I was actually in a computer shop when someone brought in a CDROM drive that had this happen. Pieces of plastic and metal flecks falling out like sand when they shook it! What a mess! They couldn’t even force the tray out!! |
Yes, I too heard of this. Doesnt it usually happen in the 52x cd burners?

This is a dvd drive from 2000, its max speed is likely 4x to 10x

take it back and exchange it. Most places will do the exchange thing as long as its for the same title.

Yeah I did, I was just worried that if there IS something that caused it to crack in the first place so that I wont do it again.
