CDRW Can't burn!
 

I got a sony cd-rw crx1611.

For the last week or so.I haven't been able to burn anything with my burner.Before that,I could burn anything but now,whenever I put in a blank cd to get ready to burn,It doesn't read it and freezes the explorer windows that are opened.I tried different types of blank cds that worked before but now, none of it works.

I used Nero and the built-in window xp write wizard and none of it works.I tried to load a game cd and it works but when i tried to burn, it doesn't.

I got WINDOW XP SERVICE-PACK 1.

Sorry but burners do die some day !!:(

So I have to buy a new one?

maybe yes, maybe no...

In your place, I would try it in a different machine or try another burner in my PC to try to isolate the problem.

how old is your burner?

did you try reinstalling the burners driver, nero or window xp? it could just be software stoping you from burning. but try putting the burner in another pc like mpro said.

Don't got another pc to test it on.And I don't got the driver software to reinstall the drivers.I got the burner installed already.

The burner still works sort of.However,It only goes at half the speed it suppose to now which is really slow (8x now,suppose to be 16x before)
