is there a tutorial

just wondering if it's safe now for people in the fileforums to put a tutorial on how to backup ur gamecubes. cause i would like to know some information on how to get started on backuping my games.

TylerDurden 07-02-2004 12:37

I say its cool as long as there is no refrence to pirated images. Also the tools have to be freeware.

TylerDurden 07-02-2004 15:05

Actually Im in the learning stages of this myself. I may be looking for someone that is very knowledgable in the GameCube section to help moderate and bring up the GameCube section of FileForums.

well i hope someone comes by and spreads the knowledge onto us...haha. all i know is that u need to have the broadband adapter, cat5(of course) and some software, and this is the part where i start to get confused. and also is cubesoft phoenix freeware?

well the stuff you need to back up gamecube games are

1. PSO(Phantasy Star Online The Game)
2. BBA(Broadband Adaptor)
3. Ethernet Cable
4. PSUL 1.1/PSOL 2.0 with the ripper.dol or just CubeSoft Phoenix v2.1

Just connect the ethernet cable to your BBA and start up PSO, start up either Psul/Psol with the ripper.dol or just use the Phoenix 2.1. In Phoenix just go to the "Backups" Section, pick a location for the ISO you want to make and hit begin. Then go sign online with PSO, on the TV screen it should be red and telling you to open your gamecube lid and put in the gamecube game you wanna rip within 10sec, then close the lid and wait around 53min for it to finish backing up.

*note this simply guide is for people who already config PSO to connect to their PC, if not read below*

"Fire up your copy of Phantasy Star Online and head on over the to options menu. Choose network option, provider option, and then yes to go into the network configuration screen. When you are at the configuration screen select network setup and choose "manualy set an IP address". Press the next button and enter 192.168.1.32 for the IP address, 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, 192.168.1.100 for the default gateway, and finally 192.168.1.100 for primary DNS. After entering in the info press next and save your settings to memory card"- Copy from Max Console.

from reading this tutorial it doesnt sound too hard to get it going then. but what does PSUL and PSOL stand for? could u just have cubesfot phoenix for everything except for the networking stuff?

snake2 08-02-2004 08:48

where can we get the Phoenix prgram?

snake2 08-02-2004 09:01

nevermind i found it

frequency 08-02-2004 09:13

so does cubesoft phoenix do all the things that the psol and psul do or do u need cubesoft phoenix and either psol or psul?

Bushwick2002 08-02-2004 09:43

Cubesoft Phoenix will do all the stuff, its like a all in 1 program. You could use Phoenix if you cant find PSUL or PSOL. PSUL and PSOL are the 2 programs that trick PSO to connect to your PC instead of going online with PSO. Yhey are not needed if you gonna use Cubesoft phoenix since it will be included inside the Cubesoft Phoenix program.

frequency 08-02-2004 10:10

so in other words all i need is cubesoft phoenix even for setting up ur network settings even without Phantasy Star Online?

Bushwick2002 08-02-2004 10:12

yes if you wanna use the Phoenix program u could use that to back up your games but u still gonna need PSO to connect to your PC.

frequency 08-02-2004 10:18

oh ok now i get it..i need phoenix and PSO. i thought i just needed phoenix for everything including for the network settings. i guess now i have to fork out some more cash to purchase PSO :p
