duo trouble

Hi!
I'm hoping someone has seen this problem before. I recently installed a duo chip in a PS2 ver 4. With the chip activated I cannot boot any games at all, back up or original. With the chip disabled the PS2 boots as normal. I installed the chip next to the ground pad, ran 20-22 awg wire for power and 30 awg for the other wires. I also have ohmed out the wires looking for faulty connections and shorts. Is there any way I can check to determine if it’s the chip or the wiring that is at fault? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.(and thanks for all the helpful advice on this board!)

Completely disconnect the chip. If you still cannot play any games then you messed somthing up in the install.

with the chip disabled (hold down reset), i can play original discs and dvd+r movies. is there anyway to test the duo chip itself?

Why are you holding down reset?

i was under the impression that if you hold down reset for 3 sec's or so that it disables the mod chip.

I told you to disconnect the chip, not just disable it.

I want to see if maybe you messed somthing up during the install.

If your ps2 works fine with the chip disconnected then you need to try and resolder it. If your ps2 doesnt work then you need to look into finding out whats going wrong with your ps2.

Ok, i uninstalled the chip, the ps2 still works. I'm gonna go back a try resoldering the wires again later today. if it still fails what should be next course of action?
i had tried the disabling thing earlier in the day, i was only trying to save a step/time. sorry about that.
thanks again

When you say you can’t boot any games at all this the chip activated...what exactly do you mean. What does the PS2 do or not do? There could be a few reasons why it would be doing this.

If the PS2 boots originals with the chip deactivated but doesnt boot anything under power i would say you got a wire crossed. Obviously you got power to the chip and usually if you have a bridge it wont load anything including originals so recheck all pins.
