Xbox Version?
 

Hi,

i just got an xbox yesturday. i want to know what version xbox i have?

How can i tell if my xbox is mod chipped do i have to open it up as i dont have a torx screwdrivers!

i thought u had an xbox..
but anyway
u check what bios apprears....
check the date on the bottom and tell us what it is
and
go buy some torx 8)

well first of all where did you get your xbox. you know, you cant pick up a modded xbox at your local toys r us... second try FTPing something to it. if you succeeed its modded. if you dont, you might need to flash the bios or something. if you want to be really sure.. follow his advice and get some torx!

welll i got it from game 2 days ago.preowned with a trade in of 2 ps2 games. i hate it because u have to put the date in everytime it starts up!

wait, what? Leave it plugged in. Does it still ask you for the date and time every time it starts up? If it does, then I suggest you take it back before the month's warrenty ends. The time resets if the xbox is uplugged for like an hour or more, but not everytime it starts up.

well if its pluged in and the powers on its ok its when i turn it off and back on it comes up with the time date thinggy thats if i turned it off all night.

its definately a v 1.0 then
cuz the xboxs started to change as of august 2002

only if your going to do a controller port mod. The v1's have a controller "daughter" board, which breaks esily when you want to remove it to do the mod. I had 2, and controller port 3 does not work on one, port 4 is broken on the other. Good thing is that it only costs 8 bucks to fix.

Version 1's are also less likely to have a good dvd drive, but then again, your chances of getting one in another system isn't too god anyways.

i dont think im planning to get a mod chip. i just use it for games and dvds allthough i only got 1 game atm but i ordered 2 of the net the other day.if i do getit chipped i get a pro to do it.

Well, just for reference, it is about 10-30 times easier to do than a ps2. Only 1 point is almost the size of a ps2 solder point, even still though, it is a little larger.

Also, I use my xbox as a media player most of the time. I can send movies, videos, cd's, and even listen to live shoutcast (winamp type) streams with it. All the while having a visualizer on the tv screen. It's truly great. Just another point to having a chip.

hmm i donno. i might get one but i dobt it can u reccomend an installer and a mod chip please
