downsize or rippint the game is the only way. btw, u can only burn 4.3, so you will have to rip is alot.

And only some games can be ripped.

Quall999 07-01-2004 04:42

to rip the games, look at the game files. If you see any music files like .wav or .wma, replace it with a 3 second sound file (delete/rename).

Do the same with common movie files (.bik, .wmv)

I didnt know Halo was too large to fit on a DVDR or maybe thats just the PAL version.

Hmm, I think even the pal version is less thatn 4.3 gb......

Anyways, halo was an easy one. Its opening movie is a bik file. Also has other bik files. Rip those with a 1 second one or so.

Hey Quall you stated that some games were unrippable, can you please tell me which ones?

What exactly do you mean when you say, "Replace it with a 3 second sound file"? I am trying to fit PGR 2 and its like 5.8 GB but I do not know what to do... Also what do you mean by "rip"? Thanks in advance

Quall999 08-01-2004 15:02

By rip, i mean replaceing the music and video files with blank music or very small music and video files.

And every game that cannot be ripped are less than 4.3gb. Any game with unrecognized files are like that. Anyways, games like metal gear solid can be ripped, but not just the music or sounf files. You have to rip the entire VR missions section.

Tango87 08-01-2004 15:45

But if you rip them, then in the game will I not have sound on some parts? or video?

Quall999 08-01-2004 15:56

unfortunately no. Although, you can replace is with a low looping ambiant sound. That is why ripping is such bs if you ask me. But it is the only way to do it without an upgraded hdd.

btw, you can also downsample the music or movie files. The only problem with that, is that you have to have a size very close to 4.3 gb, or downsampling isn't good enouph

TylerDurden 08-01-2004 16:50

Actually Quall I hate to disagree with you but I personally dont think ripping is BS. I think in the hands of a skilled ripper you can make a perfectly decent game without loosing the actual envirement of the game itself.

ok Tango87

my version of PGR2 is pal
once you have copied all files from DVD to computer
explore the contents

look in movies folders, fmv folders, music and sound folder.
sometimes you can just take out the other languages
eg french

in this case of PGR2
i just took out the Demo folder
you don't need demos of other games
