Advice Please!
Right,
I am buying my xbox as parts, as i don't have enough money to buy the xbox as one, and theirs no point getting a new one if I want to mod it, etc.. So my questions are: Main question. Is it easy to solider the Xecuter 2.3B Pro onto the main board. I have experience with solidering so I would not call myself a novice but either am i expert. I soldier in one of my school subjects. Which i do quite a lot. Other questions: a) What size hdd do you recommend b) What type of mods can you do? c) What parts do I need? (just incase I miss some) I will add to this list when I think more. |
i recommend a 120 gig hdd (more if u want cuz now u can have em)....
yea, u only need slight solder experience really to solder on xboxes.. because its only like 9 wired u gotta solder to the dash the d0's a pain, but there are plenty of palces that help that out for differnet kinds of mods (i.e lights, fans, etc... [i believe thats what u meant when u said mods]) goto xbox-scene.com and goto hardware mods.. ull find what ur lookin for there let us noe how it goes.. ull also need the bios and dash and all that.. but those are not parts theyre stuff u gotta download... i think u may noe that but im not surew |
OK. Thanks.
Also, anyone know where the cheapest/best place to get the chip. Also do you know anything about the Aladdin chip? It looks really easy to fit etc, but cant find much info on it. But it will take a while for me to buy the parts to build my xbox, so I got about 1 month. My DVD-rw (Pioneer A06) is on its way so i will start getting some games to backup etc. :) Anything else? |

i've just had someone fit the alladin advance chip in my xbox and its good you can disable the chip so you can go on xbox live
|
a good place for info on the alladin advance is here
http://www.xbreporter.com/alladin_xbox_mod_chip.php |
sorry i just checked the link myself
you will have to go to it manually just type in www.xbreporter.com it will tell you all you need to know about the chip |
Just something to keep in mind. Buying a refurbished/used/new xbox will probably be cheaper. When xbox's die, people sell the parts to other people, whom are willing to pay a high price. They figure it is cheaper than buying a whole new xbox.
Pro-owned xbox = $130 (give or take 10) DVD-Rom = $60 (probably more and rarely cheaper than this) Xbox Case + screws and controller ports = $30 Xbox mobo + HDD (must buy together in order to work) = $60-90 Power supply = $30 (at cheapest) Controller = $20 used Total estimate = $200+, even more than a new xbox. |

ok cheers. Will think about it.
Just i dont have enough cash to buy a new xbox. Plus no point. |
lol never looked at all the other info! trust me at least the alladin advance info is correct i hope! cause i've got it
|
ok. Is the chip any good? how did it cost you for installation/chip?
|
The aladdin advanced should work fine. The only conflict I would give is that it is a little on the expensive side for only a 256k flash rom.
|
i like the look of the apple x. not that expensive at all. You guys got any info?
|
yeah it's a good chip i have two xboxs one is mine and the other is for the kids mine has alladin advance you can get one from www.ukmodchipz.biz (where SEANEYB2003 said in his reply) for only £14 including p&p which is cheap enough i didn't install mine but i've seen other sites for installing this chip and they say it's easy
