AppleX V

I was browsing the web and I came across this website called www.modchips.cc and they had this modchip for $20 called the AppleX V. I was wondering if any of you have heard of this chip, and if so, what is your opinion on it as well as modchips.cc. Any and all feed back will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It is an ok chip. It has a 256k flashrom, but if loading backups is all you want the chip for, then it's alright. I too have a 256k flashrom, it's just that you won't be able to use the heavy dury ios, which case modders/dash modders might get.

What exactly is flashrom, and what would be the advantage of having more than 256k ? I do want to play backups, but I also want to get a hard drive upgrade, and I want to use the EvoX dash to be able to back up my games, as well as Dvd2XBox to copy some of them directly to the hard drive. I don't really care about getting on XBox Live, I just want to backup my games for safe keeping. I do realize that some of this stuff is deemed "illegal" but I assure you, I have a legitimate reason for making backup copies of my games due to a medical reason. If you need to know more than that then I will tell you. Also, I was leaning more towards the X-ecuter 2.3b Lite or Pro, but they both seem to be exactly the same except that the pro can boot into different banks (still not sure what all that means or does) and that it has an external programmer. Which would you recommend for my needs ?

Thanks Again

Flashrom is the chip the bios are put on to. The minimum is 256k. Some groups release hacked bios that per say, might have ftp included in it with the aid of an imbedded executable. If something is imbedded in the bios, it will noit likely be a smaller size. That's really the only reason I can think of for larger flashroms.

But, then there are chips that support muliple bios, meaning with a switch, you can make your xbox boot to evolution x, then if you were to flick the switch, it will boot to media x menu, or anything else you want. (I use the hacked MS dashboard. And the bios swich is not the same as the on/off switch). The size of the bios that you can flash in each bank is of course depending on hw larger your bios images are.

And if your looking for something basic, I would definately go for the x-ecuter 2.3 lite (or the lite+ if you cannot solder). You can have 2 512k bios, or 1 1mb bios on it.
