ps2 wont read ps1 games or DVD+RW
 

I have a v7 ps2 with a magic 2 which wont read any ps1 games and it only goes up to the part that says Playstation 2 for dvd+rw.

you have to put your ps1 games on a cd-r, cd-rw might work also

i have them on a cd-r and my ps2 games on a dvd+rw

ok sorry it sounded like you were trying to play ps1 games on dvd+rw.

well for ps1 games make sure you are loading it right by holding reset untill the blue eject light comes on.

and for the ps2 games try dvd-r most ps2s will read them better

Yes try the PS1 mode like Snake posted.

Also, not all ps2s will read dvd+rw.

it reads the dvd+rw movie i have.
it wont read backed up or original ps1 games even when i hold it till the blue light comes on

Try another type of media anyways. Like people who use princo. It works ok with movies but not too good with ps2 games.

Is it Possible To Read DVD+R's With an Limited Edition ?

does the modchip have anything to do with ps1 originals not booting or is it something else and when i copy dvd+rw do just direct copy i thankz

I've had some V7's here that would read CD-RW’s BUT the game would only load if I Booted with Codebreaker V4 CD and then put in the CD-RW and select start game. Perhaps a DVD-RW would need to be booted with a similar method.

I don’t have any DVD-RW to try and I doubt my V4 will read them anyway.

As for PS1 CD-R, I find them Very tricky to boot with the Apple Pro chip. I don’t know how other mods work but with apple you need to time it just right, release reset just a split second after the blue light or when you see the black screen flick. Also the CD-R MUST be burned as MODE 2 XA, one session ONLY and CLOSED ( non-recordable). A lot of my PSX backups do not boot on my PS2 because the CD-R was not closed or I filled the CD with another data session. These CD-R’s will however boot on the PS2 if you use a boot cheater program like Xploder.

Im thinkin your ps1 originals really should work unless maybe there was some sort of mistake that has been made during the install. Ive never had any problems playing my ps1 originals or backups.

Supposedly the v9/10 are able to read that format but I would test it first like I stated with a dvd movie. I dont recommend using RW (whether its - or +) for the test.
