MPG/AVI to DVD

i recently made some videos of a family bday party and i want to put them as a dvd to watch

are there any programs that allow me to do this? or do i have to convert them or something?

Get yourself TMPEG Encoder. That'll encode just about any video file into DVD format.

Then get Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 thatll allow you to make menu's and format your files and even burn your files to dvd for you.

I use Cucusoft Avi to VCD - DVD and it also works well for converting, and then burn to DVD. I havent had any problems with it so far. My home videos have been coming out flawlessly (Knock on wood) :p

ok thx guys ill try them out

ttwistedd 27-12-2003 07:55

ok ive got tmpgenc and ulead dvd movie factory

when i convert the original thru tmpgenc, it converts it into audio and video (.m2v and .wav)

and when i go to insert the vid in ulead dvd movie factory i can only insert the video, thus having no sound

is there something im doing wrong??

ttwistedd 27-12-2003 08:22

ok ive just figured something out

using that tmpg encoder prog i imported the original .mpg (not the .m2v) and the .wav into that little window at the bottom, and outputted it as another .mpg now with sound (im sure theres some easier way to do it, but im not too sure, if u know fill me in :))

then i did all the menu n **** for the dvd in that ulead proggie and then burnt it.

it seems to work perfectly on my laptop and computer, yet it doesnt read at all on my dvd player. it is able to read burnt cds as ive backedup several dvds and they have all worked fine.

im confused as to why it doesnt work.. plz help :)

thx

ok well i feel like im talking to myself but ill go on anyway in the hope that someone can help me

ive managed to convert the files to .m2v, as i understand that is dvd format?

when i use the ulead program to burn it to dvd, it still converts, which i think it shouldnt do as it is in .m2v format and it takes forever (burning a full dvd, took 8 hours to do 40%, and that was just converting, not burning)

there must be an easier way someone help me plz !!

I use Adobe Premiere to edit home videos, then either Sonic MYDVD or Adobe Encore DVD to burn the DVD's. If I need to compress the video files, I use TREX for convert to MPEG2 format.

TylerDurden 30-12-2003 20:19

I use an old version of TMPEG Encoder that doesnt split up my audio and video like you say yours does.

Maybe if you PM me an Instant Messenger info Ill contact you online and try to help you out.

Or if you have got Nero 6 you could use NeroVision Express 2. It lets you convert mpg/avi to dvd really easily.
