I just can't figure it out
I have a version 4 or 5 PS2 and I was gonna modchip it myself so I opened it up and got it ready (was gonna get the chip on christmas, it's a magic v) and I got scared and I'm just gonna have someone else install it cause I have horrible luck with soldering for some reason....
anyhow I have a couple games (THUG and SSX3) and I was gonna play them, so I put the thing back together and for some reason it makes a clicking sound and then ejects fine, then I can play any audio CD, however DVDS and games I can't play for some reason I'll leave the game in there and after about 5 minutes it says "disc read error" and it won't boot it obviously... my memory is accessable, my controllers work, and the drive spins it just doesn't read the disc... PLZ, I can't even send in the PS2 to get modded if it doesn't work (the place I wanna send to checks for things like that.) Do you think I have to realign the laser or what, this is driving me insane, I wanna play it really bad, and I've checked so many things and can't figure out the problem, then someone told me it might be the laser alignment.... Any ideas? Thanks A LOT for any response |
Yup...
Sounds like when you had it apart that the laser got out of alignment... Any GOOD mod chip installer can adjust this for you when you let him chip it... He may charge a small fee for it, but the lasers can be picky and its best to let someone who knows what they are doing adjust it fo you. |

Freedomlives has been a good place for installs for as long as I can remember. Im sure anyone here will tell you the same.
