DMS3 and backups and gamesharkv4

Have a V4 board. Just recently installed a DMS3 and upgraded it to the 1.8 flash. I am able to play backup games, dvds, and standard ps2 games. I want to use cheats on my BACKUPS as well as my originals. Has anyone had a problem using this mod with a backup and gameshark...Thanx everyone....

You shouldn't have any problem.

gameshark and dms3

I boot the console with the gameshark in and it begins. It allows me to choose my cheats and when it tells me to insert game disk it then tries to boot it and then flashes me a warning cannot boot disk. Has anyone else seen this???? If there was any wrong installation it shouldn't play anything right??? Thanx all...

I know this is an extremely old subject, but I am having the same problems, just my firmware for the chip is the 2.2 now. Help is much appreciated.

I bet the chip is not allowing CD’s to swap. I had the same problem with Magic 3.1 chips. They said it supports Gamesharks but I couldn’t get them to work. Also, If you burn the Media Player (PS2Reality) you probably won’t be able to load the TOC of a MP3 CD or whatever you try to load in.

I know Magic V 50K’s and Apple Pro’s will let you swap CD’s just fine. If you have SNES Station, that will also let you test Swapping, it will let you browse other CD’s for roms.

Its definately not allowing me to swap. I burned a backup copy of my gameshark, took forever, and it booted up just fine, started the game as normal after codes, and oh, look at that, same end result, so I know the chip was on this time.

I donno anything about DMS3’s, I don’t install them, The cost would be too much. I would think for the price you’d be able to load a new TOC without any problems. Possible bad wiring or incompatible function with some PS2 versions.

If you are stuck with a chip that will not swap it may be possible to add a switch to reset the chip as you close the tray with a new CD. A mod chip reset should force the chip to re-inject the license code to enable a new TOC to load. The easiest way may be to cut the power to the chip and turn back on as the tray is closing. May cause damage though, or crash the board from the bios patching.

Crap, well that's not good. I could have sworn DMS advertised that the cds could be swapped.

Turns out it was version 2.2 causing the problem. I went to 2.0 and everything has been working great, except my shotty GQ DVD-Rs. Can anyone reccomend a good brand of DVD- or + Rs that are cheap?

What about any that come in like, more than a 10 pak, and can be bought at a electronics store such as fry's, I know I'm being picky, but I just wanted some info. Thanks again for the help so far.

Try TDK, Memorex or Verbatim.

I'm trying Fujifilm at the moment, working pretty good so far. Seems like Red Dead Revolver is giving me some trouble though, wierd.
