Best Chip to get?

Hello

Which is the best chip the get that will still allow me to play my XBL games if that's possible anyway.

If so where can i get one from and how easy is it to install?

Thanks

i suggest the x2 lite
plus if u can solder
and just lite if u can

Chris174 14-12-2003 13:39

I have never really done much soldering, i did a bit in school and i wasn't bad at it. Do you know anywhere to buy these chips?

And can i still play XBL with this chip installed?

AXmichigan 14-12-2003 14:11

i believe u can turn the chip off or somethin
but yea, xbl can still be played
try.. uhh
consolecorner.com
and i think somethin like www.themodchipsource.com
check around
ur bound to find somethin

I found this one: Xecuter 2.3 Lite Mod Chip for £30.

I have read and the mod chip has an external switch to turn the mod chip off so XBL can be played.

But i don't understand something, if i install this chip and try and play a back up will it just run or do i need to install something on my xbox HDD?

It should run just fine. You will have to flash your chip with a new set of bios. Basically, with the x2, you just pop in a cd-rw/dvd with a your bios file (and the correct size) named "bios.bin" on it, and it will flash the bios.

Ok thanks, i think i might order one of these later this week.

Are the ones with the pins easy to install?

Good choice going with the X2 Lite. I just installed two X2.3 Lites the other day and they work great.

If i order a X2Lite do the easy install pins come as standard or do i have to buy them as well as the chip?

And how easy is the xbox to put back together? I don't want to open it and not be able to put it all back right.

header pins (with those, only the D0 needs to be soldered), wires, and external switches come with the chip. The only things you have to pay more for are the pogo pin (nosolder) and programmer (evox is fine though).

The more of this i read into the more i am being put off doing it myself.

Do you know anyone in North West England who fits XBox chips? And how much?

You mite want to contact dust2dust. Hes a member here who sells / installs PS2 modchips. I'm not sure where hes at in the UK but I know heres there some where.

If he can't do it for you, I'm sure he knows some one who can.

hi,

i have a question regarding x2 lite & pro.

The newbie guide says, that x2 pro is the most recommend chip to purchaise. Now i want to know what advantages you have by installing your own Bios (x2 pro) rather to use a preinstalled one(x2 Lite). Can i update my bios with x2 lite the same way i could with x2 pro?

please don't judge me for my question, i know i am a noob, but it would be very fine if you could help me.
