Need help with burning

Hello everybody!

I made a ftp connection from my Xbox to my pc and transfered the data of the game to my pc's hard disc drive. The folder is called PXgame0. So far so good...
I tried to copy the data to a dvd-r(intenso), but it didn't work.
I tried to burn with nero and with recordnowmax. I found some tutorials about burning on www.xbox-scene.com and I did exactly everything like it is described in these tutorials. When I put the dvd-r in my xbox I always get the message that the xbox can't read the disc. The xbox is modded of course and I got evox installed on the hdd.
I tried the same with a dvd-rw and nothing happened.
Can anybody please help me?
I don't know what to do.

Thanx,
Nicki

which tutorials did you use?

With record now max, just yse the "data burn", and remember to close the disk because the default is selected as open.

I used the Data burn method from the sticky of this forum and I used the burning tutorial from xbox-scene concerning nero.
But I can't get any backup to work :-(
I have finished the disc, that can't be the problem.
Do you think it might help to test another type of media? I heard something good about ritek DVD-rs.

Another question:
Is it correct, that I have to create an .iso file when using nero and that I don't need to create one when using recordnowmax?

correct you dont need to make a iso for record now max. as for nero dont even bother it is absolutley appauling for xbox games. if you want to burn iso's i recomend alcohol 120 % it works fine.

I know this may sound utterly stupid but it happened to me... Do you have your mod chip switch on/activated? I know I can toggle mine on and off and when it is off it gives me the message you are talking about. Just a suggestion, comment.

Nicki 15-12-2003 14:59

Thanks for your answer, but the mod chip definitely is turned on. So this can't be the problem...

Any other ideas?

Isn't anybody out there who can help me?
I tried DVDs from Verbatim and TDK but I had still no success.

I had a hell of a time with backups also.

A lot was due to my drive I have a thompson drive.

Some Thompson's are the worst - some are fine - mine was dog shiat.

You can see what type of drive you have by looking here:

http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/x...comparison.htm

I know it is my drive because I can use the disk in another xbox with a samsung drive.

Anyway I am now modding out a samsung PC dvd drive for use in my Xbox.

The other thing to watch is the media - just stick with the Ritek G04 dye disks. I burn -r from a Phillips A05 drive.

Usualy if it is bad media or a bad drive - you will get some disks to partialy work. For example the game will boot, but will give a 'dirty disk' error in the middle of the game.

Now here is another thing I noticed - DO NOT put lables on the disks. 90% of every disk I have ever put a label on is a dud. It was really cool idea - scan the original disk photo and then print a label - but like I said for me it turns the disks into crap.

I presently use RecordNow Max - but also just got in to Alcoholer with CloneyXXL and Alcohol 120%. This is way cool software, and I highly reccommend for your PC Game BAckups. (Also just got CLONEDVD with ANYDVD for movie burns- trust me this is the way to go for movie burns) .

Anyway - for those of you using Alcohol 120 - is there a tutorial on buring Xbox games out there?

(I am sure I can figure it out but have not looked into)

Thanx for your reply. I will try to get some ritek dvds and try with them. Maybe it will work.
