RNM is stupid

it is. i downloaded it and tried it. i did everything right and selected mid speed when burning my 4x DVD-R. thats should have burned at 2x. but noooo, it went and took and hour burning at 1x. that is outright stupid, why cant u actually select the speed! if i chose max and it burns at 4x i will spew. i want 2x damn it.

im going to do a test of the simpsons road rage at max. be back in 30.

BTW, who said RNM is the best PS2 burning program? u cant select the speed! imagine driving a car with the gears: slow, medium, fast, and max. WTF?

patch god 10-12-2003 00:46

k. it seems to have burned at 4x. it all went smoothly though. the error rates were low also (i use Kprobe with my liteon dvdrom 165h). well i cant seem to burn at 2x. oh well, the faster the better, i guess.

Maybe you should do more than one test before you post your reviews. You have to know that the problem isnt user related. If you know what I mean.

RNM is superb. (IMHO anyway!) :D

psx_paul 10-12-2003 13:44

RecordNow Max is one of the best (if not the best) application for backing up PS2 DVD based originals :)

patch god 10-12-2003 16:18

why exactly is that? ive tried various other programs and they all work. what makes RNM the best? BTW the speed setting is pathetic. they should try and fix that in the future. what happens when 8x DVD writers come out? u can only burn at 1x 4x and 8x? what about 2x. its just frusterating becuase i dont know what speed it wants to burn at.

TylerDurden 10-12-2003 16:27

@patch god

Please, let us know what kind of media and burner you are using. Also tell us how many times youve tested.

oops thought i said that. my mistake.

Pioneer 106D
TDK 4x DVD-R (made by Taiyo Yuden)

I've done 2 tests. 1 time at mid speed and one time at max. it burned at 1x and 4x when it should have burned at 2x in the first test. I cant get it to go at 2x. i will do a few simulations later today to see if it will go at 2x.

TylerDurden 10-12-2003 17:43

Im guessing its either a firmware problem or Media problem. The only reason I say that is because the majority of people here use Ritek media which gives great results. Since you are using TDK which is a good brand mind you, there may not be as many people on this site using your same exact settings/media/burner/firmware.

I personally burn at max speed at all times I really see no reason to burn slower. Burners are made to burn at their max claims. That means they have tested their drives and have made dvds/cds at that speed without issue.

And with medias changing all the time its hard for dvd burning companies to keep up with firmware updates to fix media speed/wobble/recognizing problems.

Firmware has nothing to do with your email address.

Whats wrong with burning at max speed anyway patchgod? I burn all my games at 4X to traxdata dvd-r and they work flawlessly. Stop getting hung up about speeds, Get some decent media and just leave it on max.
