bacup of original crashes

i have backed up the origin-al of my lotr-return of the kings,
heres what i done,
installed ok, then when it asked for correct cd, i pasted the no cd crack,
game runs for 5 minuts then when gandalf says its time to battle for middle earth, the error code appears
code 00000005 at 004801f9

has any one any idea if this is some kind of new protection, i read that there is going to be something like this available so it hangs in a specific part of a game to get you hooked,

any ideas or similar problems ?

is it possible that this problem could be the no-cd exe file even though the game will play ?

any ideas would be appreciated.

Nope no-cd can't be the problem. You might have done something wrong with your Backup. It's SafeDisc 3.10 and it's hard to backup.

Copy all the files from the original CD, to a folder in the harddriver. Then manualy burn it with Nero or other burning tool. And reinstall it from that backup.

Don't try to do 1:1 backups or use 1:1 tools, like CloneCD, Blindwrite, Alcohol.

Heres a HUGE tip when wanting to back up your original games

1. Insert the cd, cancel the prompt to install or play. Go to My Computer and open the CD manually. Copy all of the files in it to a Folder on your hard drive.

2. Use Nero, select make a data DVD or CD what ever your trying to back up.
Start burning all of the CDs or DVDs.

3. Never try 1:1 copying, it might give you erros.

4. Enjoy!

Even if you back up your orignal, you still need a crack for it to run or the original CD. Thats where the CD/DVD barcode come in :P
