psx laser out of line,

my nephew's ps1 laser is out can any1 tell me how i can realign the laser please ;)

crazygamelover 11-11-2003 15:54

need more info on what its doing exactly.
i had one that wouldnt read the cd's due to a dirty laser and i used a q-tip with water, pinched off the excess, and was able to clean it, however i found out later that, that could damage it more. it was recommended to use it dry and be exremely careful.
in some cases the warranty may still be valid and you can send it in to be fixed. they also have inexpensive cleaners that you can purchase at stores that are much safer to use.

in any case caution is advised because they are so delicate.
also do not touch with bare hands. i recked one that way also.

Try doing a search back and see what you find. i answered this question loads of times before.... May have to search back a couple of years though...

Well its nice to see that nothing has changed since i have been away.....!!

Welcome back Spooky.

Hopefully ippy got it working or he just hasnt made it back yet.

I did a search on the net for parts on one myself but in my case, i think a new console is a more logical choice. I did find a new laser assembly but mine doesnt get power either. Its toasted. Oh well.

could'nt get back to you earlier trouble with pc ok now though, i give the laser a clean i used some lint free cloth (dry) give it a good wipe and it seems to be working now but i think the laser is on its way though, but hey crimbo is coming so santa may bring him a new station,

thanks guys

crazygamelover 08-12-2003 06:22

a dry q-tip might have done the job for ya but static free is even better yet.
you can get a new laser assembly for right around 30 bucks.
New consoles r about 70. Up2Um8
