Fifa2004 on Hdd

Hi there,

I have a strange problem. After backing up my Fifa2004 onto my hdd, it wont run from my hdd!

I have the latest of everything, so unsure why it wont work. Backup was fine, no file was missed.

Can anyone throw some light why this is so? Do I need a patch perhaps?

Mate,

Any game that has been released since Feb 2003 may have to be patched so that it can run on the Xbox HDD ... the reason for this is that Xbox games [maybe not all of them] NOW have a 'Media Check' enabled ... games are Assigned to run off DVD media only so that's why they now need patching ... by patching the 'Default.xbe' file the game will now play on ANY media ... including the hard drive ... this is a straight forward operation ... you need to grab hold of a very cool app called Craxtion 3.00 [Out yesterday] ... this will do it for you ... once you have patched the 'Default.xbe' just FTP it to your FIFA 2004 folder [on the Xbox] & overwrite the original one ...

Also this patch is the same for ALL games up until the protection is changed again by MS ...

It might be the case with FIFA 2004 I don't know ... I haven't tried it yet ...

Hope this helps ...

Hi,

[UPDATE]:

Just backed this up myself ... yes it DOES need patching so use Craxtion 3.00 ... good luck ... it should be easy ...

FIFA 2004 - PAL - [1.99GB] - Has Media Check

dont think it needs to be patched, i just directly copied it from the disc and dumped it on the xbox hd without editting a thing and it still works flawlessy

Hi,

Well I got a v1.0 Xbox & X2 Lite 1.1 [Not the Plus version] ... I haven't flashed the BIOS at all [straight forward solder job & installed Evox +3921] & it didn't work off the HDD without patching the 'Default.xbe' file first ... I always run the game first to see it will run without patching ...

I think a lot of people will get different results because of the ones that flash their BIOS & the one who don't as I believe flashing BIOS's allows you to play straight forward backups off the HDD without patching the file ...

I could be wrong but this is what I understand from reading peoples posts ... If I am wrong could someone confirm this please at some point ...

I also think that the list Dude & Quall have put together could be misled because of this ...

I'm not trying to put a spanner in I'm just here to help & make sure people get the right info ... mainly me :D

Clarky:
Have you flashed your BIOS? ... and what type of MOD chip have you got?

cheers mate,

Sorted!

Hi all,

Many thanks to you all for your great help.

Gem - you are right that was exactly my problem, the default.xbe needed to be patched. Once done sorted! Amazing that such a simple edit fixs it!

Cool, thanks to all again....
