Ok I am an idiot....

I have a just purchased a Sony Vaio and would like to backup my PS-2 games. All I have so far is a Sony DRU-120A DVD burner. It burns DVD+R or DVD-R.

I am confused....what else do I need? Do I NECESSARILY need a modchip? What software should I use? If I need to install a modchip, is there someone who can do this for me because I know JACK about electronics....

Basically, where do I go from here...>I looked at the newbie files but am still confused...

Sorry guys, I know you are all experts and I am a dumb newbie :(...

Basically yes you need a mod. RecordNow Max is the best for backing up your dvd games and CloneCD or Alcohol 120% for cd games. Bill at www.freedomlives.com can install the mod for ya. He is excellent.

you will need a mod chip if you dont want to kill your ps2 and use stomp record now max to make back ups of dvd games and clonecd for cd games. a dvd game is silver on bottom and a cd game is purple on the bottom

You WILL need a modchip to boot PS2 games, and I'm sure one of the mod fitters will post sometime. There will be someone near you.

For tutorials on backing up PS2 games, go here . There is lots of other information too in the forum - particularly with your problems...

Hope this helps...

We were all newbie's at one point Gravis, I suggest you re-read Charlie's newbie guide very slowly so you dont miss anything.(Posted in the stickies). Charlie is a good guy who took the time to write all that info for people like yourself. Then if you still have questions or problems post then, other members or one of our moderators will be glad to help. Good luck.
