Playing backup games with no modding

I remember hearing long ago about this method involving the memorycard, however, the information was rather scarse and didnt make it very clear.

From what I recall, you load some special save onto a PS2 memorycard, then load an original PSX game, itll cause some buffer overrun or something and allow you to then insert a backup PSX game.

Did I get it right? Does anyone have any more info on this method? On what exactly it can do, how to do it, and technical info on it?

Thanks in advance

It was called the knife method. Its very ghetto. I dont think you can still do it with the current ps2s.

No

I am pretty sure it involved no action replays, knives, or anything

Just an original PSX disk, the backup/import psx disk you wanan play with it, and the hacked PS2 Memcard save.

Sorry never heard of it. But if it were true then either its been eradicated by newer consoles or it was a hoax to begin with.

Apparently its for booting PSX games on a PS2, and its called the PS2 Independance hack

Heres some info:

I dont know how but apparently by putting an exploit into your ps2 memcard's System Configuration save it allows you to boot backup/import PSX games

At least................ thats what I understand

I still dont understand this fully and and not sure how to use it.

One person actually had the save itself to download onto your ps2memcard using link software, eliminationg the need to burn that cd.

But ATM this is all the info I can find.

Anyone got any other info?

OOOOOHH yeah. Now I remember. I never did any research on it but Ive heard about that. Yeah its only for ps1 games.

Do you know anywhere I can get the save itself so I dont have to use a burned cd? (since I would obviously have to use some sort of swaptrick for that)

I have a Sharkport/Xport, will I be able to transfer the save using that?

Do you have any other sites with more info?

Nope, I dont sorry. But, if you do a search I know that this has been discussed before.
