Xbox emulating Ps2!!!???
 

A friend told me that xbox will soon be able to emulate Ps2 games by installing a special modchip. This obviously sounds like utter crap to me. Is this even possible though? He bet me 5 bucks that it would emulate Ps2 games flawlessly. lol, i think he's gonna have to fork out the cash. :D

Next time when you make a bet with your friend, make sure you set a specific date when the bet ends. That way he cant back out saying "give it more time".

Heck I dont think anyones even made a successful emulator for the pc yet.

Basically this topic comes up EVERY single time a console war is in operation.

The straight up answer is NO. There never will be. The arcitecture between the two consoles is far far different to each other.

The next generation of machines may be able to emulate either, or both of the machines but not in the near future.


The megadrive couldn't emulate the snes, the same way the ps1 couldn't emulate a saturn.

It would be nice, but keep dreaming :)

The specs of the XBOX would have to be much greater for it to be able to emulate the ps2 even slightly, it has to emulate almost everything which takes up system resources, the gc emulator for the pc got VERY little fps with wind waker on a 3ghz 1gb rd ram and an ATI Radeon 9800, this isn't possible period.

the xbox is a bit more powerful. even if someone finds out how to. it will be so slow that noone will want to use it

LOL. thats exactly what i thought guys. thanks for reassuring me. I talked to him today and he's like: "trust me man, its gonna happen soon". anyway, he says he's going to buy an Xbox when it can emulate PS2. looks like he wont be getting one any time this century :D

This questin pops up like twice a month in the xbox section. I dunno if they ask because it can emulate ps1, but seriously, we should start asking them back if we can emulate ps1 games on a nintendo 64, maybe then they will get the idea :rolleyes:

It’s the “flawless” part that got me, I haven’t seen a flawless emulator for ANYTHING yet!!!

Still waiting for an Amiga emulator that will play deluxe galaga!


BTW Tyler, Pirates are the backbone of the electronic industry. Pirates built the internet. Pirates are the reason DVD burners now cost under $200. Don’t even try to deny it.
