Gameshark CDX and backups
 

Hi, how do I get my gameshark cdx to work with utopia and my backups? Is their a certain order I have to put them in or what. PLEASE HELP!!! :)

First and foremost? You can't. The GameShark CDX uses what's called a "dongle", a hardware lock mechanism that prevents it from working without the special hardware (i.e. the black GameShark Memory card). So unless you can get one of these, you're screwed. There's "susposedly" a patch to diable the hardware check, tho A) I've never seen it, and B) Everyone I've talked to tells me it doesn't work.

I think the question was meant:
How can you use your Gameshark with copied games? Basically can you use your PURCHASED gameshark with games that use the Utopia boot disk. So far I don't think you can, BUT what if the copied game is self-booting? Anyone test this out yet.

Yes, you can. Just insert the GS disk first, enter the codes, then the boot disk and finally the game. You can't use the GS with self-booting games though (Shenmue).

the rip of gameshark works just fine
i first d/led the fake, that wanted the dongle
then found a site with rips of th us gameshark
and the uk action replay...both work
with any memory card...but don't seem
to be much use as there are very few cheats
available (that i could find anyway)
