problem with Halo no cd v1.02
if I tread onto "illegal" speak, please let me know. I am just a guy that likes to not change cd's all of the time.
I have been using the Halo no cd v1.02 to play campaign and multiplayer for about 3 days now, when tonight I tried to join a game from the list and the game told me my "cd key was invalid". I have tried un-installing, re-installing, deleting the "my games" folder, reg cleaning, etc. I can play single player but no multiplayer even now that I have re-installed without the no-cd. I only use the no cd for convenience, I will do without it if that's what it takes, but currently I can't play multiplayer at all. Is my cd-key officially dead for good? The only other soultion I can think of at this point is go back to the store I bought the game at and tell them I got bad cd and need a replacement. Of course I won't use the no cd crack again, but it still kind of costs "everybody" money when the big picture is involved. Once again, if this is forbidden speak, I won't be offended if this thread is deleted. I don't believe in wares or stealing, but I do agree it's hard to trust someone over the internet. It seems like this site might be able to tell me if I needed a whole new cd or not. thanks. |
if you get 'invalid cd key' when joining a server using the 1.02 crack then the server you have joined is a legit server and not a cracked server.. 1.02 patch (and the 1.01 and the 1.00 for that matter) only work online when both the client and the server are using the cracked exe

This was mentioned in the nfo that came with the crack, therefore the nfo should always be provided with the file(s). Some ppl seem to enjoy the feeling of deleting it though.

djspl as long as you have an original cd and serial there IS about nothing you can do wrong here :D Anyways, what the guys above said is true, but I'll try to explain it a bit more. The 1.02 nocd that you've been using had not only the cd checks disabled, but also the code that checks if the key is valid. (TippeX probably has a more detailed explanation but my head hurts already from it being way too early). Anyways, what this means is that like with battlefield1942, if you use a crack, you can only connect to 'cracked' servers who don't check the serial. That's probably not what you want, so you either have to use the original without a crack, or wait for a better crack, or use Alcohol120% to run from a hard disk image. I'd advise the last one as it allows you to play without cd the cd without any need for a crack. You could ofcourse play on cracked servers, but there are usually a whole lot less of those than official ones...

I see, maybe sometimes I have good luck picking games with the crack and sometimes not. It was strange because in 2 days of online play I had never gotten that message and then all of a sudden it was coming up every time.
Well after re-installing for the 3rd time I can join any game so far without using the crack, back to normal so far, all of a sudden the message doesn't ever appear. About the ".nfo" file. What program do I need to read that file? I have actually tried to open it, but I can't find a program that can do it. |
notepad views nfo files just fine usually
