This Patch screws up the ISO
I have two patches to install for the PSX game Bloody Bride
One patch translates the text into English One patch adds English subtitles to the Movies I have no problems with the text patch, but the movies patch dosent work, when I apply it the entire ISO just becomes a corrupt mess, sectors on it becoem unreadable, the TOC gets screwed up, etc Anyone have any ideas why this is happenign and how I cna fix it? I am using PPF Magic 3.0 and tried both isntalling the text then movies and installing movies first then text, both produce the same results |
What are you extracting your image with?
Are you getting any errors when patching? Tyler! |
Nope, no errors when patching.
And I think its my PC, because (I cannot confirm this however) but everyone else that got this from the same source I did got both patches to work. Is it possible that cpu speed, ram,os, and/or free harddrive space can affect applying large patches like this? Because I have a lot of ram...... but the other three are low. |
Let me explain why I asked and needed to know what you extracted with.
If you used clonecd or any program that is really good at making backups as 1 to 1 as possible, then sometimes it picks up scratches or whatnot on the disc. That changes things when patching. I know when Im patching I always use CDRWin because it just skips over any scratches and makes just the image. You may want to try that. Im not sure about the CPU speed etc... but I really dont think thats the fault. Tyler! |
I checked the image, it matches the image the patch attempts to use. My friend that also patched his copy gave me a SFV of his image, it matched mine. Also, the text patch, which is 2 megs only, works. Its the 500 meg movie patch thats messing up. So I am certain that the image itself isnt the problem. Any ideas?
|
I'm assuming since you wont reply with the software you used to make the image .....you didn't make the image.TylerDurden has asked you twice now. So what did you use to make the image.
|
An old version of CDRWIN, I always use that for making my PSX isos........ usually
Sometimes I have to use clonecd for images that have some protection that dont let them be copied |
That is odd. You should be able to patch your game fine. It sounds like a very large patch. Is your disc scratched in any way? I really have no other advice, since what I have told you has fixed my problems in the past.
Tyler! |
Like I asked............ woudl the amount of ram, free space, OS, or CPU speed affect my ability to apply patches? BEcause yes, this is a very alrghe patch. Its 500 megs and the iso is 700 megs. The 2 meg text patch works perfect.
All my other friends were able to patch it....... but their systems are much more powerful then mine and all have XP, I still have 98. |

Like I said above! Lets not get snippy with me man. I was trying to help. Tyler! |
Sorry, didnt see that
So do you have any clue why my PC cant patch it but others can even though our files are exactly alike? |
Ahem.
I think this statement "everyone else that got this from the same source I did got both patches to work" indicates warez. Does it not? |
By "this" I meant the patches, 500 megs of patches is still a big download.

I hope thats what you meant. As for your other question, if your pc patches it and states "successful" then it should be. It may take you longer but it should work. Ive patched games that took me quite some time to patch and they worked. Tyler! |
Yeah, it does take a long time, but eventually says successful.
But it isnt The iso itself becomes redicously corrupted when the patch is applied. |
