What about protection's specifications?

Hi all,

i search all informations about cd protections, protection's methods, which are the best at the moment, the way crackers disable them (other than cloneCD and Alcohol...),...

I 've already found a piece of information on Cdmediaworld, but i need much more specifical informations.

could somebody help me?

thx a lot.

i think you ll find all the information you need at the site of cdfreaks....

podunkviller 08-10-2003 17:09

cdfreaks discourages cracking questions. i delete them. i think everyone else does too :P.

here, though, they are fair game, afaik. google for some of r!scs old tutorials.

most of the tutorials are well out of date by now though

ByteMare 08-10-2003 22:21

Well, they can be nice to study if you're a total newbie and having no clue where to start

TippeX 08-10-2003 23:22

win32 api + 80x86 asm is where to start, not with tuts, with pre chewed information

ByteMare 09-10-2003 04:57

Of course! I just mentioned "if you have no clue"..hitting google with "game cracking" pops up a nice link to a "big" site. * *

First you got some stuff about jmp's. Now, I don't think a newbie
gets a hold of what GetDriveTypeA is (I might as well be wrong)...but wait...hmm..some tutorials...let's check 'em out...

But ok, this was a pretty lame example...just showing my point :D

podunkviller 10-10-2003 01:07

getdrivetypeA is from win32 api. jmps are from 80x86 asm.

tutorials can be a nice way to learn from how others do it. they wont teach you everything, but they can give a system to be adapted. some tools to be used.

of course, most people posting here, trying to learn, fall by the wayside when they realize ITS WORK.

of course...you have already downloaded the Vlukas faq...haven't you?
