cant find directories with flash fxp

Today i am still trying to connect my xbox to the computer i know that the cable is a brand new cross over cable and i am connected directly into my nic card without a router once i bring up flash fxp and connect it does seem to connect and will stay connected for about 20 seconds but then it boots the connection. During the time it is connected i do not see any directories on the right side of the flash program for the xbox. Do i have to put the cd into the box after i start the flash program or before and if before what do i have to do with the evolution x dashboard once the cd is loaded.I am running XP and matrix mod with evolution x dashboard and running evod6red bios 256 kb. I am a total newb so please be patient.

linking xbox to pc

I used a cross over cable (J-45) then i set my ip address on my computer and default gateway settings i also set up my xbox ip address in the flash fxp program that i found on the dashboard in setup. The computers default gateway settings were set exactly as the xboxes which both were at 192.168.0.1 my computers ip i set at 192.168.0.2 and my xbox ip was set at 192.168.0.157.Once i had all the settings i booted up the xbox and the connection icon at the task bar went out so i thought this is a good sign, next i went to my flash fxp program and hit quick connect on the top right window i tried both with a password(xbox) and without(anonymous). Each time the flash fxp program would show at the bottom that i was connected but i still had no directories in the right hand window (xbox) and the connection would last about 20 seconds then fail. I had the sand dial in the right window the whole time until the connectio failed. The cross over cable is connected directly to the xbox and computer.

Firewalls can ussually cause this problem. If you are using one alarms, either turn it off or configure it.

trying to link up to pc

Ok, like i said im a total newb and most of the settings and software that ive got to get this far have made me pull most of my hair out, so now i have to go into my zone alarms to reset the firewall. Well when i go to my zone alarms i have four headings local internet, intranet, trusted sites and resticted sites and inside each one of these zones there must be about 50 different choices to pick from. what ones in particular will disable the firewall to allow me access to the pc from my xbox or is it the other way around.

Hmm, go to the trusted sites tab. Is there some kind of add option? If so, click on it, then set it up to allow the xbox's ip address. I think I have a different version of zone alarms than you, so I don't know exactly where everything is.

If you cannot configure it, you can always right click and turn it off, but thats up to u.
