were u get the program at and u saying it can put like a 7 gig dvd moive on a 4.3 gig dvd-r ? dose it cut any thing out like the extras ?

kooldraco 13-09-2003 17:45

http://www.dvd2one.com
yes it can do dvd9 to dvd5
it can do full dvd (all extras and menus) or movie only
the only thing i like about the new version (1.3.0) is the joining feature, like being able to re-join a movie that was split into 2 dvds back together
however as far as the transcoding engine goes it ouputs bad video quality compared to dvdshrink3 beta5, nero recode and instant copy

o so the moive qualty is'nt very great i think i will just stick with dvd shrink then

It will be on par with dvd shrink as they both do the same process.

true, they do the same thing, however they have different transcoding engines and as far a quality goes dvdshrink3 beta5 has a superior engine

You sure about that? Ive used both and quit using DVDShrink because I noticed the quality difference. To me DVD2One has been better but since I havent used DVDShrink since v2 (I think). I may give it another shot.

Also if I remember correctly DVDShrink didnt fix the Layer break in some dual layered movies. Has this been fixed?

Yes I'm sure, the dvdsrhink transcoding engine (latest version 3 beta5) has been significantly improved since v2.3, give it a try and you'll see.
Unfortunately dvdshrink still does not remove the layer break, I did hear it was going to be removed on the final v3 release, but I'm not sure.
The layer break can be removed using ifoedit (so I read on doom9) I never had to remove it since all backups I made work fine with my dvd players, the only thing I did notice is like a 1/2 sec pause in the middle of the movie, but no freezing.

Cool thanks for the info.
