booting backups
 

I am using a neomod 2.2 in a Version 1 with A/R. Won't play dvd-r backups. Tried RecordMax now & Alcohol 120 and different boot methods. Goes to the black screen after push x using A/R then says insert a playstation or playstation 2 formated disk. Using TDK DVD-r. Any advice. Thanks

How to boot DVD-R (only) with AR2/GS2 V2x

• Insert AR2/GS2
• Power down console, wait 5 sec, and restart console by pressing and holding reset. (Dont let go)
• After GS2 completely loads, swap with original dvd game.(high TOC)
• Wait about 15 sec and select Gameshark codes (or ar2 codes) and turn on or off any code on any game.
• Press start, select with codes and press x to load game.
• You will see a black screen saying "updating codes please wait" at this time release the reset button, tray will eject, swap with backup, tray closes and game loads.[/color]

If you are booting exactly like this, it may very well be because you have a V1 PS2.....

With the laser being as old as it is, you may not be able to boot dvd-r backups.....:(

A good way to test to see if your v1 will play ps2 dvdr backups is to put a backed up DVDR movie. If it plays then your laser has the capability of playing ps2 DVDR.

Thanks for the idea of the dvd movie. Won't play dvd-r backup movie. Must be the laser.

Yep. Good ol piece of sh*t v1 lasers. Time for a new ps2...and a new mod while you are at it;)
