About Messiah 2

Does anyone know what console version (Online Combo Pack) being sold in the retailer? and if i get it, will Messiah 2 support it?

i'm new to all PS2 backup stuff, anything will help and thanks in advance. :)

bighap 05-09-2003 22:37

The online pack is a v7, which is supported by the M2.

Does it work if you use a backup???
I mean when I used my backup of diablo it worked even though it was a backup(I had the original and didn;t sell or lend it to any of my friend) So my cd-key doesn't exist in the internet so I can play on the battle-net
Could you do that in ps2?? or does it reject it because it is a backup

lufcfan 07-09-2003 08:31

Normally backups would not work due to DNAS protection but with the M2, you can turn the chip off so DNAS will not pick up the fact that you are playing with a backup online and you will be able to use your backups online.

How can you load your backup game when the chip is turned off ?

lufcfan 07-09-2003 09:02

No No No. You leave the chip ON to load the backup and then once booted you can turn it off and go online. I've forgotten how you do it now, a simple search will reveal the answer, but Bighap or one of the mods will know and I'm sure that they will reply before the end...

Maybe we need a switch that turns off the chip power after loading game, because holding reset button after game loaded, sets PS2 off.

Ah - here's a thought. If you wire the RST wire up to the adjacent EJECT point and hold that down for 5 seconds at any time, that might work in relation to online backups. never tried it.

- from what i've been reading, it really woundn't make a difference if you have a mod or not on your ps2, that's why u still get dnas errors with the swap magic (which is like having no mod) the problem is that dnas actually checks to see if your game is on dvd-r/cd-r or a pressed dvd/cd so a patch would be required. i've read that some people are getting close to cracking this, we just got to wait and see.

wouldn't your ps2 have to id your backup with in 5sec (before the chip turns off)? cuase every time u press the eject button your ps2 has to id the game again.

Good point.

So another method might be to fit a switch to the RST point that feeds a pulse of the required type to the Messiah 2 (I'll research that). You push the switch for 5 seconds and the Messiah 2 switches off.

if the above is true hk silvers will start selling well
as they would appear to the ps2 as pressed disks

True,
Although I haven't seen anybody testing this.
and there might be more to DNAS too (who really knows?)

Seven O Two 08-09-2003 23:49

F DNAS

anyway so there obviously is a problem with just having a switch on the 3.5 lead to the M@ and turning it off after you load the game, right?
