Hi!

I'm new and from Germany, so plz forgive me my Lowskill and the mad grammar ;)

I have a NEC 1300 A 1.07 DVD-Burner and a modificated PS2 with the Magic3 Chip.

First question: If i want to boot a Backup with the Magic3 Chip - do i need to press a button first ? or just put in the DVD ?


I tried to backup several games like Baldurs Gate, Lord of the Rings, Blade2, Hitman2 and Max Payne.

I made Globale Images of each game with RecordNOW (reading MIN) and burned them with (Burning MIN) Speed. LOTR and Baldurs Gate works fine. The other Games didn't

Then i tried Blade2 with Nero6 and it dont work either.

Then i tried to burn MaxPayne with CloneDVD (1x) and it didn't work too.

My Second Question: I cant choose the correct speed of my DVD-Burner. If i burn with RecordNOW i can only choos MIN/MID etc. but no 1x/2x etc. With Nero i have the same problem.. i can only choose 2,4x/4x and MAX. But there is no support for 1x Burning-Speed (only in CloneDVD). Is there any flag which i can set ?

I burned all the Games on PRINCO DVD-R's. If noone of the games worked i would say: "ok Princo is crap". But BG and LOTR works very fine, so i couldnt say that my PS2 have big Problems with that kind of Media, isnt it ?

I will try it with VERBATIM Media today, but i hope you can give me a answer, because i dont want to destroy one DVD-R by another.

u could also try download PrimoDvd it works good i also heard some games magic 3.1 dont like to boot maybe thats couple of them how many backups have u tryed on ur system.

i tried the following games, everything tried to copy with RecordNow:

Dont Work (the originals do)
Blade2
Hitman2
MaxPayne


Work
LOTR
Baldurs Gate

which Media do you use for your copies ? i will try VERBATIM Today evening

well if u buy them off the net like i do i use dvd-on dvd-r's which work great and r cheap costs me 54$ for 50 pak there like 97$ for a 100 pack shiped and they work just as good as ritek to me riteks price went relly high like 115$ for 100 pack then u got to pay shiping but if ur getting ur VERBATIMs at a store then try that but if u had to order them i would go with dvd-on cause VERBATIMS r kinda pricey and princo sucks for big games the kind with alot of movies sences they skip relly bad only game i used on these dvds that works if breath of fire dragon quters

First thing.... Have you EVER had a backup game that you did WORK?

Here is the boot procedure for your Magic 3..

Playstation 2 Games

• Power up normally from STANDBY with RESET button. A single tap is required.

Playstation 1 games & DVD Movies

• Power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

NOTE: Turn off the PS2 (to standby) before changing Mode (PS1/PS2/DVD)

Baldurs Gate and LOTR worked very good - even the Movies in the LOTR Game etc.

In other words: Simply put the DVD-R inside and start your PS2 ? If that is the way to boot Backups with DVD-R i have done this.

if you have backups that work (which you do) then those games are bad burns, and you should reburn them on better blanks

Well, this is my opinion too.

But what shall i do ? i cant do more than try it on 3 diffrent Medias

Princo, Verbatim, Sunstar, and Verbatim DVD-RW's

i tried the same game on Nero 6, RecordNow, CloneDVD.

I think the best way.. the MUST WORK way is to make a Global Image with Recordnow - readspeed MIN, and Burnspeed MIN.

But noone of the games worked, only BaldursGate and LOTR. These 2 games are still working without any problems (sometimes i need 2-3 resets to boot them).

I called the Vendor about the problem and the Vendor who build in the ModCHip in my PS2 says "the laser is the problem" - is true ? shall i try it with a new Laser ? cause every original Game and 2 Burned Games are working...

If you're using DVD-RW's then this is more than likely going to be your problem...

try to copy one of your games (lotr) just a str8 copy onto your new media and if it works, then your burning sometahing wrong, but if it doesnt, then the media is your problem
