ps2 backup Formats...

I got a Playstation 2 with a Magic 3 modchip... I and getting a DVD-Burner (pioneer DVD-burner Ao6) and i was wondering which DVD formats can be played on the PS2? (e.g. +DVD, -DVD, DVD Ram)

DVD-R = YES. All versions v1-v9 support DVD-R
DVD+R = YES. HOWEVER, ONLY VERSIONS v5-v9 support it. The odd V4 may read it.
DVD-RAM = NO.

-R has the best compatibility with PS2 and Standalone (plus you can write data at 4x with -R instead of 2.4x on a +R. You don't really need a dual format (i.e. +/-R drive), just find an A05 which supports DVD-R only (writes at 4x) and save yourself a LOT of cash. The only drawback is that 4x media is quite expensive but 2x is fairly cheap these days. But my opinion is to just find an A05. Hope this helps...

Yep. No need to get a drive with the +r option. -r is better anyways. Get an A05.
