Looks suspious... (Dunno if it's a fake chip...) e.g. The magic V on this site http://www.egame-acc.com/PS2/PS2073.htm compared to the link of the other link

i dont know either...i have bought from that place before..they seemed good. i was just looking to get the best ps2 modchip available today.

modchip.ca is reliable and yes the Magic V is legit. Of course the same people also said that the magic 3.1 was better than Messiah 2 which is BS. The initial reviews of this chip were good, but here are a few things to consider:

1. It only works on v5, v6, v7, and v8.(Messiah 2 works on all versions)
2. It offers nothing that the Messiah 2 already has.
4. Messiah 2 is already flawless, so it is kinda hard to beat that.
5. Still have to tap reset(Messiah 2 doesn't)
6. Remember the last two magic chips, the 3 and 3.1? Enough said about that.

actually even though on the official magic website it says you have to tab the reset button, you really don't, according to a review done by ps2news.net it boots from browser and if you want to tab the reset button it boots 1st time every time. they also removed the Z wire which was not very reliable when booting games behind a GS/AR with codes, they also switched to 3.3v rather than 5v.
on another note modchip.ca is reliable (I have ordered from them before), but their prices are a bit high.

my biggest concern right now is being able to play games online..i just bought the adapter to see if it would work with my neo 4 and of course with all the fighting (had to buy a router to get online) i dont know if its my setup or my modchip telling me that my password doesnt match my username in socom when i try to connect online..

Why risk it. As bighap says the M2 already works perfectly so cannot be beaten. The Magic V can only equal M2 performance so go for the M2.

Its not your modchip, because your modchip has no effect on your password. You must have just misspelled your password.

Magic 3 mod

what's the pro and cons about the Messiah 2 and Magic 3 mod?

Gurm 26-08-2003 05:22

Messiah2:
Pro - chip is perfect
Con - none

Magic3:
Pro - err... nothing?
Con - chip is NOT perfect.

Winner? Messiah2.

Tyler!

ya that one i figured out(felt like a bit of a retard after)
...i rented socom so i didnt have a book and since i was unfamiliar with the network adapter i didnt realize that u had to have a unique username. i havent tried to go online again yet but i will let u know as soon as i do.

First let me say I have great respect for the magic team. they held a good position when Messiah just wasn't there. People are very fond of Magic 2. I expect that Magic V will turn out to be what Magic 3.x should have been.

But if it stays at this high price, it won't sell.

It's this type of educated/fair comment that ultimately singles Charlie out on any forum site!

They should sell it at the same price as an apple pro.
