GS2 booting...
 

I have an unmodded PS2. I have been trying to boot my DVD-RW backup, and have tried 3 methods that don't work. Do you guys have any info on how to boot an unmodded PS2 with a GS2 V2.22? Thanks for any help!

you can only boot cd-rs on an unmodded ps2 with gs on v1-v6 using the knife/card trick, not sure about v7+

Nope. V7 and up won't work.

"Knife" and "my ps2" in the same sentence make me squirm.

I don't think u guys understod... I am trying to use the GS2 and a slide card... I know u can use the GS2 disc instead of the swap magic discs... LOL. Also, where did you read that my PS2 vas a version 7? I didn't say what version my PS2 was. Besides, it is a V3. All I said is that my version of Gameshark was 2.22. Sorry for the understanding. Now... is there any way to do it? LOL. I have tried all of the methods I've seen, but none work. Thanks for the help guys!

Don't use dvd-rw. Try a dvd-r.

I never said your ps2 was a v7, I was just stating facts.
I am POSITIVELY sure you cannot boot DVD-R (much less DVD-RW) on an unmodded ps2 using GS2, I don’t even think a v3 laser can read DVD-RW (burn a movie into a DVD-RW and see if your v3 can play it).
Using GS2 and the card trick will only work on CD-Rs, if you want to boot DVD-Rs using your card trick then you have to buy the swap magic discs (that’s why you get 2 discs, one for CD-Rs and one for DVD-Rs).

My bad on the confusion thing... Yes, my V3 does play DVD-RW movies. So that shouldn't be the prob. As for the unmodded ps2 thing, I got my info from here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/15105. According to these guys, you can do it. I don't know what to believe! I will more than likely buy the Swap Magic discs tho... is there any way to use cheat codes from the GS2, as well as use the swap magic discs? :confused:

DVD-RW used for a movie is different than if it is a PS2 game. You can get away with not so good media with movies, but not always for PS2 games.

-you have to have a neo to do the double swap thing
besides you need gameshark2 v1.9 or 1.7 (can't remember) to make the double swap
gs doen't work with swap magic
