little help connecting xbox to pc

ok....i have a adsl router(which acts like a dhcp router) connected to my pc and then i have my xbox connected to my pc through a nic card and a patch cable. i load up evox and ip address is still set to 0.0.0.0 i know im messing a step somewhere but i cant seem to put my finger on it. i have a big HDD installed on my xbox already and have many games saved on it, but i wanna know how to connect it just in case something comes that i have to do this method. if anyone can help with this i would really appreciate it :)

Set your StaticIP to "Yes". Pick an IP address for the XBox and enter it into the INI file and save it. Reburn the CD/DVD. Make sure the RJ-45 cable is connect to both the XBox and the router when you turn the XBox on. Once its loaded check to see if ya got an IP address showing in the setting of EvoX on the XBox.

on which nic do i set the staticIP to " yes". and also what do u mean pick an address for the xbox? u mean i get to choose the address for the xbox? and u also said to enter that ip address in the INI file and save it.....what INI file? if ur talking about the evox software then i dont have it cause ther person that installed my modchip also installed all of the software as well.

rms2001 15-08-2003 18:18

Yes I am talking about the EvoX software. Your going to have to get your own copy config the INI and boot your XBox with that.

OR
Take your XBox back to the person who modded it and ask him/her to help you with it.

i think this is kinda weird cause no tutorial that i know has never mentioned this part at all. ill just send it back next week or so cause i dont wanna mess with it. im scared that i might mess it up or something.

u needa set up two different static ips
on ur comp
the other on the box
for the comp just goto liek network connections, properties
for evox
just goto system
settings
the put yes to static ip and set it to a different static ip

Axmichigan,

's all good man
uhh
first of all, whats ur os?

hi m8,dont think i am flaming u,but maybe u should first read the newbe tut for evox.It will sort some things out for u.The ip stuff is wide covered in there.u'll find the tut here:
http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49079

good luck,its not that hard

:)

one last thing,for ur xbox just pick an internal ip adress. any 169.254.*.* will do.

This what my section looks like
Code:

[Network]

SetupNetwork        = Yes
StaticIP        = Yes
Ip                = 169.254.1.12
Subnetmask        =
Defaultgateway        =
DNS1                = 0.0.0.0
DNS2                = 0.0.0.0
SkipIfNoLink        = No
SetupDelay        = 10

I have erased mu subnet and gateway settings,i didnt need them and made the connection to time out.

and the last hint,get the evox software from quall99 's site.
The evox.ini is in the package.

Axmichigan....i have windows xp version 2002 sp 1

and hey slim673....about modifying the ini file and reburning it again onto a cd, these steps were never covered in the tutorials that i have read and i have read quite a few of them already. they all just basically covered the basics and were very brief instrucions. also i figured i didnt need to do that as well cause i have adsl router which will give my xbox a different ip address everytime i boot up.

okay so windows xp is easiest to work with
no offense slim but followin standard IPing protocal will do the trick
if u found somethin else
congrats
so frequency, do the following
first your computer
goto start, control panel
goto network connections
second click to properties
the click the tci/ip and click properties
for static ip put in: 192.168.0.2
then the subnet will fill in itself
then goto defeault gateway and up in 192.168.0.1
then click done or whatever
and allow it to adjust and reset
also put on show indication when connected (whatever the words are)
(for your reference, you are not supposed to connect the two till both are set, obviously, but just making sure)
then goto your xbox
let evox load
then goto system utils or whatever
then goto settings
then scroll down a lil bit
you should see static ip and such
first of all, if it is not enabled, select yes for static ip
then goto static ip and fill in: 192.168.0.157
* quall 8) *
then the subnet mask should be the same as on the computer
and finally the defaulty gateway should be 192.168.0.1 (same as the computer)
click power off
then put the cat5(e) into your computer
let it recognize theres a crossover/straight cable (if you are using a hub)
then turn on your xbox
it should say on the bottom right of your computer that its connected
open up flashfxp
goto quickconnect
say connect to 192.168.0.157
type xbox/xbox for username/password
click connect
and you should have all the hard drives
