Good VOBs + No IFO = Boohoo

Hello everyone,

Until now i've had several months of trouble-free DVD writing and consequently this is my first post on the forum, although i often read the posts with a keen interest. I've always used DVD Shrink to rip and compress my discs (straight from the original - what a breeze) and then NeoDVD to effortlessly write to my cheap but reliable 'Arita' DVDrs. I've only ever wrecked one disc.

But when i tried to rip 'The Sum Of All Fears', i got a read error at around 80% in. I looked at the surface and it clearly had some small but nasty scratches. I ended up ripping with DVD-Decrypter (3.4.1.0) which confused me a bit, but eventually did the job. However, when i try to open the .ifo using dvd shrink, i get a 'file does not exist error'. I have the same problem with NeoDVD.

My Vob files work fine, but clearly my ifo file has got an error somewhere. What are my options? I still need to compress the files, so i presumably need to create a new ifo which dvd Shrink can read.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Maw Norppa.

You could use IFOEdit to open the ifo file and look for "obvious" problems with it, or you can use the same program to create a new ifo files for your vob's....

BG is correct, I delete all my IFO and BUP files and recreate a new set using info edit. All you need is the vobs. It works a treat, i use it to delete trailers of DVD's
