Championship manager 4 help!!

I have the orignal CD for my championship manager 4 game but i want to install it in another room of my house and i dont want to have to continue to use and swap CD's. Does anyone know where i can obtain the no CD patch for v4.08 as the EP5 enhancment pack has updated my game to this version and gamecopy world dont have the v4.08 no cd patch yet.

There's a fixed exe here, it's the uppermost deviance crack, dated 26/7/2003. It's a fixed exe, but sometimes a nocd gets labeled as a fixed exe so try that first. Yes I know it says 4.07 in the title, but it really is the 4.08 crack. If it really is a fixed exe and you still need the cd in the drive, I suggest using Alcohol120% to make a hard disk image on one of your pc's and mount that. Use the Securom new (4.x) profile and the image should work well enough.

the v4.08 by DEViANCE is a No-CD executable............why is it labeled v4.07 on GCW....???? maybe it works with v4.07 as well?

It's just a typing mistake.

I'm having trouble with this crack and CM4.
On my desktop computer the game runs 4.0.8 without any problem and doesn't ask for the cd. On my laptop (which doesn't have a CD rom) using the crack it stops on loading to tell me there is no cd in the drive! So using the same crack works on one computer but not the other - so I'm baffled.

I tried using the 4.0.0 crack on the laptop and that works but if I can run 4.0.8 on my main computer without a cd why won't the laptop run it?

The laptop is Windows XP and the other is W98 if that makes any difference?

How did you install the game on the laptop - through a network drive?

badwolf 31-07-2003 12:28

No,
I copied the files from the other computer with a direct cable link.

Strange still that it will run with one crack and not the other that's what baffles me. I tried doing it the other way round ie: copying the files from the laptop to the computer (after uninstalling) - and it works with both cracks.

Is it possible that the fact the laptop doesn't have a cd drive is the problem?

Yes, a lot of nocd's still need a cd device present, however this can also be a virtual one like that of Alcohol120% or Daemon Tools. Download Daemon Tools, install it and it'll work (you don't have to anything else, just run Daemon Tools)

Thanks - I'll try that Rincewind.

Did you just copy over the files that were in the game's installation directory?
If so this won't work (99% of time) as other registry information is written during the installation.

Try making an image of the cd on the computer using Alcohol, transfer that image to the laptop, mount it on the laptop and install and play.

I got it going!

I did RincewindtheWiz's suggestion and ran Daemon tools to set up a virtual cd and away she went!!

Thanks a lot Rincewind.

Thank you as well Ghosth@cker for your help too.
