gothic 2 copy protection error
 
ok done a search only 1 post for this topic and im still not sure, when fighting i cant inflict any damage and 'copy protection error' comes on the screen

is the error to do with the crack or the way the game was backed up in the first place, and is there anythink i can do

There are about a thousand threads for copying gothic 2. Start here and yes, it's a sign your copy wasn't done right. I suggest using Alcohol120% to make a hard disk image and mount that.

well i copied gothic 2.only the 2nd install was protected by safedisc 2,x(not 8 or 9 i think).i made an image with alcohol and mounted it.when the installit sais the cd is protected...in the install man they say it's protected..how the **** they know it?the copy was made by alcoholer 3.2 so there can't be any wrong settings there

AFAIK gothic 2 is protected with Securom New, not safedisc 2. Make another image on your hard disk and try to run it. Use the securom new profile. If you want to write it on disc and have a chance that it'll work, you'll definitely need RPMS emulation enabled in Alcohol120%...

PS The installer also uses Securom New, that's why it knows you have a copy.
