Is the Modchip a must? Heard there was another way!

I've heard that you dont need a modchip to burn PS2 games..

got a friend with two games he bought off a guy that didnt reguire modchips..

madden 2003 and NCAA 2002 (not sure if i got the basketball game right for the year)

Is this true?

What does it take do to the burn? eg. appz?

and what are the drawbacks or flaws if any?

also i have seen both the disc and they are on cd-rw & cd-R disc's and both of them play perfect without any flaws or defects

Sure there's a way. You shove a knife into the PS2's drive mechanism at the right moment, twist it, release the tray, swap the disk with the one that's just booted, push the tray in and hope you haven't ripped the guts out of your PS2.

Is that what you want to do?

mabye u can just take the top off your ps2, then take apart the little drive tray, take the top off of that

then boot like a gameshark or something, but have the top on. put something heavy on it, like a book or a cup of coffee.

when it says insert disk, pull offf the book, and spill coffee everywhere, swap the discs by taking the top of the tray off

then because there is only like 5 seconds, smash the book on top of the ps2 as fast as u can, and then pour the rest of the coffee on the book to add weight. and when that doesnt work after the 3rd time, get mad, and smash your ps2 with a hammer, and then buy a premodded ps2 to play your backups

Why do people try so hard to avoid the modchip? For mere fee you can have the problem solved..Jeez..
If you can't fork out $80.00, given that about $30.00 to M2pro Chip, About $50.00 for install why not?
I admit that some people can't afford it but the ones who can still try to find the loophole..We should be greatful Loophole=Modchip exist as is and yet bunch of Scrooge's out there still wants a Loophole out of a Loophole..
Man!! I don't mean to sound harsh but come on..

Yeah, it tends to crack me up.

I think the anti-modchip bias is really a product of the "I don't want to OPEN IT UP" mindset.

The fact that many n00bs then contemplate opening it up with a KNIFE, or installing a flip-top, just makes my mind boggle. :(

How difficult is it to install one of the Mod Chips?

You need to have experience soldering very small points to even trying to attempt a mod install.

GuinnessDrinker 22-07-2003 19:33

I have some experience.

I was an Aviation Electronics Tech in the Navy and I did a bunch of soldering, but no really teeny tiny stuff... Is there a website that has the details?
If I can see what I need to solder, I can make a decision then...

Some of the pictures in this guide should give you an idea.
