MechWarrior4: Mercenaries CRASHES!! HELP!!
 

HELP!!! I'm running MW4: Mercs from images with Daemon-Tools.
The crack is installed, and the game starts OK, but as soon as I try to play a mission, campaign, instant action or anything it crashes.
Even on the "Star Systems" screen, it crashes, so it seems to have nothing to do with 3D.
Same thing happens after updating to "Point Release 1" and cracking.
I have a Athlon 1GHz on an Asus A7M266, 512Mb DDR266 RAM and a Hercules 3DProphet Radeon 8500 128Mb with latest reference drivers installed.
I've tried on both Win98 and WinXP Pro with the same results.
WinXP reports, on reboot, that the problem was caused by the display driver; is there a problem with MW4 on Radeon8500s?
Other games run fine.
Maybe I have to burn the images and play from actual CDs?
Does anyone have any ideas?? Please! I'm dying to play this game! PLEASE HELP!!

Do you have the original cds ?

Not with me. I leave them at home, and I just take (compressed)images of the games I want to play on my hard drive. (I actually live in The Netherlands, but am studying in Madrid)
Together with Daemon, this has worked perfectly for all games I have tried except for this one. So I think I would be having the same problem with the originals.
Any ideas?

Well, without the originals there's not a lot I can suggest you try. Also, any half way decently made image should be able to run in Daemon Tools, provided it's made of the original cd ofcourse. I suggest you make a new image of the original with Alcohol120% the next time you're home and try that in Daemon Tools or Alcohol120%. I'm going to close this thread here, if you want some more help you'll need to have those originals handy...
