Messiah (NOT Messiah2) or DMS3?
I`m planning to chip my PS2 and have found a site wich offers innstalation of either a Messiah chip (not v2) or the DMS3 chip for the exact same price. I have a v4 system and wondered what chip would be the best for me in this case. I heard DMS3 where buggy in a v8 system?

Read about the latest DMS updates here
if I were you, i'd sell your v4 and get a new/second hand one v5 and above, then get a Messiah2, it's the most desirable combination of hardware and the least likely to cause you problems. |
Get the DMS3 over the Messiah1.
The Messiah2 is a great chip as well. And the DMS3 is a great chip as well, its just got more goodies than other chips. As like bobfffg said, sell your Ver4 and get a Ver5 or above, seems Ver4s and under don't read back ups as well as the Ver5s and up. |
And how do i know that i`ve gotten my hands on a v5 system? Guess i`ll try and trade myself to one...

It doesn`t really tell me how to differentiate between a v5 and v6? I have a PAL console by the way.

** A v5/v6 PS2 can be identified by looking inside the top rim of the Expansion Bay. If there are three screws, two flush (brass) and one recessed in a flange (silver) then it's a v5 or v6 ----Credit to psx_paul for this info---- |
