Plays cd's but not DVD's
 

Hi folks,

Hope you can offer some advice.

My Messiah V4 PAL PS2 has recently stopped playing all DVD media. Without being recently messed with.

I have scoped the eye pattern, CD eye pattern is good, but the DVD pattern,when it does occasionally show up, looks like saw tooth wave rather than a sine wave.

Is this likely to be a goosed DVD diode or have you seen this problem associated with something else.
If it is the laser, any ideas where to get another one? How Much? Do they need to be set up for individual machines or simply drop in and away you go?

Try a cleaning disc and if that doesn't work buy a replacement laser from www.liksang.com or www.modchip-sbox.com

i had the same problem with a 30001 model
and ended up selling it for 50 bucks hehehe
and got a 39001
