Has anyone installed a SST49LF020 in their XBOX?
I finally got my SST49LF020 programmed and was looking at a few diagrams on how to install the chip into the LPC area of my xbox. The first thing I wanted to do is solder all of the 9 wires I will need onto the bare pins of the chip. I was looking at a few diagrams when I ran into a little problem.
The chip has 32 to pins and the red wire in the picture at the following URL: http://www.x-elixis.com/grmods/sst/page.htm# is connecting 10 pins together. However, when I looked at both my friends chip in his xbox and also at the following URL: http://www.warmcat.com/milksop/cheapmod.html they are connecting 14 pins together. The diagram found at http://www.warmcat.com/milksop/cheapmod.html is the chip in a LPC header but it is clear that "wire #9" connects a total of 14 pins. Is there a reason this is done? Does it matter whether I connect 10 pins or 14 pins? |
Do the 9 wire install.
Be sure you ground out the D0 as well, by running a wire from the D0 to a ground screw. With out the D0 grounded the XBox won't look to the modchip for a BIOS to load. |
But do I solder 10 or 14 pins together for the red wire?

That I do not know...
Email the people over at WarmCat and ask. |
